Strange Discoveries
Hey all. I know it has been a while since I posted on here.. I have no excuse, I was being lazy. But I am here now and want to share with you an experience I had in the summer.
A good friend of mine has a daughter who attends school in Toronto. She approached me inquiring about taking head shots for her daughters law group—of course I couldn’t say no. The shoot took place in downtown Toronto at Osgoode Hall. I love doing photoshoots downtown because I always see so many different kinds of people, from so many walks of life.
After the photoshoot was over and I was making my way to the car, I heard the faint sound of music ahead of me. I kept walking to follow the beautiful sound which led me to a man playing his harmonica in a lovely garden area. What amazed me the most is that he was playing his harmonica with one hand only. The pure talent and determination he needed to be able to play so greatly blew me away. I approached the man and complimented his playing, and asked if I could take a recording of him doing so. He gladly accepted and I began to shoot.
I could have sat and listened to his music all day if only life were that care free. It was nice to live in the moment and get out of my comfort zone by approaching a random stranger on the street to see if I could capture them. Ever since reading “Humans of New York", I have always wanted to walk downtown Toronto to meet and take photos of all the beautiful and different humans that inhabit this wonderful city— possibly making my own blog similar to the author of Humans.
Sadly he has never seen my story mention of him, but I still have hope that one day he will respond back so I can hear and see him play once again 🙂. His IG is @luke_wanders_on
