My Photo Gear
Well this is going to be a short story made sort of long because I only have 1 camera body and 1 lens currently I can use.
When I started back in 2018, I bought a cheap DSLR— the Canon Rebel T6i as previously mentioned. I thought the world of this camera—I was amazed at how the background could be blurred. I started by using the kit lens to try and shoot everything. As a few months passed, I realized that I wanted to be able to do more with portraits, since that is what I loved to shoot. That is when I purchased the nifty fifty. For pretty much every shoot since buying the EF 50mm, I solely used that lens. I was in love with the bokeh and creamy backgrounds.
As my photography journey continued, I wanted to save up to buy a new camera— no money would be coming out of my pocket, I was only using money from photography gigs to pay for this new camera. Sadly in Summer 2020 my laptop kind of conked out, requiring me to upgrade that before buying a new camera.
Since buying my new laptop, I met a new friend/photographer who was so generous to gift me a new lens— the EF 85mm 1.8. I was super shocked when he handed me this lens out of pure kindness, but I loved it so much. It made me believe in my oldie but goodie crop sensor camera once again— talk about more creaminess!
As time went on, I started to get more and more annoyed with the limited capabilities I had with my camera in low light situations. My external flash helped, but that also was not powerful enough. So my money saving regime continued. Due to personal reasons, sometimes I would have to dig into my savings to deal with other things so the journey to saving for my new camera was a long one.
Then FINALLY came September 2021. I didn’t have quite enough money saved but I was not waiting any longer, the camera I wanted was on sale and I purchased it— The Canon EOS R. Along with the R, since it was RF format, I bought the RF version of the nifty fifty to compliment my new camera body (as none of my old lenses were compatible with my new camera). I plan to get the EF to RF adapter to be able to continuing using that beloved gifted lens from my friend, as well as get a 35mm to work on my wide angle creative shooting.
Eventually, I will save up and purchase the nice, big, heavenly 24-70mm 2.8 lens along with the 85mm 1.2! Until then, my limited but solid gear will continue to help me make you beautiful people look amazing.
